Where do we fit in?
On the first professional day back at schools, everyone has a meeting to go to. CILT (Campus Instructional Leadership Team) meet to discuss new instructional strategies, administrators plan schedules, opening school procedures, room asssignments, etc. Even the custodians have a designated meeting agenda. Librarians? Well, we were told choose a meeting, or don't you have something to do in the library? When school agendas are set, librarians aren't considered. Administrators simply don't know our role; neither do teachers and other school staff. We as librarians have to define and demonstrate our role and value to the school structure. W are not just keepers of the librarary and its reousrces. We are instructional partners and should be considered.
